I had been using Kubuntu up until a few weeks ago, but I'm not a great KDE fan soI bought a book with 5.10 distro included and off I went. Great!, installed like a dreamran the updates then it tells me about 6.06. OK!, Pity I did'nt know that before I boughtthe book. Anyhow I decide to download the 6.06 DVD iso image. Three hours later off Igo and install it. New graphic install screens and the whole process is really great.Pick the language, pick the time zone etc., etc., partition my disks, install proceeds, install finishes, I wait to be asked where I want to put GRUB, I wait and I wait and thenwe go into re-boot. I am definitely NOT impressed with the fact that Ubuntu now decideswithout asking me, that my MBR is where it's going to install Grub. I use WINDOWS XPas well as SuSE 10.1 and I want to decide where my boot loaders go. I had to go back againand re-install in text mode to get what I wanted. I'll be staying with text installs until theydecide to put the GRUB placement option into the graphic install process, if ever. As far as I am concerned this is a retrograde step for the Ubuntu installation process.
