Need to restore computer to factory condition

I was trying to run an update on my computer & got caught in a loop. I couldn't even log off. I had to turn it off with the buttons. Now I can't even get to the log in screen. I had this problem once before & someone told me how to get to a screen where I had the option to restore it to factory condition. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I don't know alot about computers ... obviously.
