Creatng a new Partition Problem due to ubuntu

I have windows vista and after that i installed ubuntu linux.But it delete all of my vista partition.Now i want to create a new partition using fdisk.but fdisk can not recognize my whole hard disk.Can you please tell me how i can create new partition in Ubuntu linux base systemthanks
