erase DVD or CD

I am a newbie. Lots of things are working fine but I want to erase a R/W DVD and the HELP files were no help. How do I do that? In Terminal, rm -r as superuser??

Erasing a CD/DVD

If the CD/DVD media is, in fact RW, then open Brasero, go to Tools, and choose Erase...

Brasero is the default CD/DVD authoring tool for Ubuntu. If you're using Kubuntu or another *buntu then you'll need to look around in the default CD/DVD authoring tool for the distribution.
