Gnutella (limewire) Problems

Kay I am totally new at this so don't laugh Kay? So I used to have windows and was using limewire to download music. It's now called gtk-gnutella...(same thing from what I understand) and I was downloading music and all of a sudden the search box disappeared and at the top of the screen (above file, view and help( there is a grey bar that reads:                              gtk-gnutella 0.96.6u unstableWhat does that mean and how can I fix it???
