Help desperately needed installing DBI module.

I'm a newbie and I need help with the DBI module.  I have downloaded the module and it's a tar.gz file.  I need clear, step-by-step directions on how to unzip and install the module for use in my 7.04 Ubuntu installation.  I'd appreciate any and all assistance.
