Dear all,

i want to use Gtalk in ubuntu...
is there any way to use gtalk

There is no native linux client for Google Talk. You can install and configure Pidgin to use their servers, though you won't be able to use video chat.

it's use prism to access google talk web application.

Try Empathy. It is available under add remove programs. It will handle a number of different serves and will do video as well.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS has an option that let Gmail users chat using their Gmail account, Known as "Chat" on your top left hand corner of your desktop.
Have tried couple of times and works on ubuntu 10.04 LTS

This option lets Yahoo users to use their Yahoo email account to chat via
Yahoo messenger. never tried though.

You can call from your Gmail.
The good thing is google provides .deb package for that.
There is also a package for fedora.

What I suggest you do is to open the terminal for your computer and type the following:
sudo -s makes you the root user for the computer
Type your password) you will not see any ******* when you type your password, but it will register that you are typing
apt-get install pidgion to download a chat-client called pidgion.
y when prompted to do so
Let everything install, then go to "Internet" in your ubuntu "start" button and edit your account. Note that you do not need to write email@gmail.com, just email. If you write @gmail.com, you will have to edit your preferences again.
