IBM 600E no sound

Hello I am trying to get the sound working on my IBM 600E laptop I have been all over the net and tried everything that I have found but still no sound I think I am going to have to talk to someone on the phone to walk me through this. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 and it is working fine except the sound. I even have the wireless card working. I am kinda new to linux but getting around pretty good, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Made changes ubuntu/30338

I get this when I reboot and I have made all the changes and rechecked them.

Bad line stream....options snd-cs4236 isapnp=0 cport=0x538 port=0x530 sb_port=0x220
Bad line stream.... fm_port=0x388 irq=5 dma1=1 dma2=0

Go it working

OK I have it working and thanks for the help. The problem was me and the instructions, I finally figured out what the instructions was telling me to do so I am going to add a little here incase someone else has trouble understanding the part like I did. Ok here it goes.

1. Blacklist the incorrect sound card in /etc/modprobe.dblacklist. Add lines for

blacklist snd-cs46xx
blacklist cs46xx

The cs46xx and cs46xx has to be cs462x and cs462x....I copied and pasted it like the instructions said and it did not work.

OK now the part that says,
NOTE: When copying and pasting the above, make sure that the line starting
with 'options...' is *one* line ending with '...dma2=0'.

I did not under stand for a while what it was telling me,(My fault) If you do not understand what it is saying I will try and explain it a little better.
The line that starts with OPTIONS and the line just below it that ends with DMA2=0 has to be one line all the way going across, so after copying and pasting it move the 2 lines together.

I hope this will help someone else.

WayneW Have a great day.
