Just a little VMware something
Unfortunately, where I work I am forced to use windows as my main operating system. I've just set up a VMware ubuntu, and whilst I was sceptical of the performance and compatibility both before (which is why I hadn't tried this earlier) and during the install, this works really really well. VMware configs already exist for ubuntu and are freely downloadable. All modifications and installations are saved and function well (unlike using a liveCD), and the setup runs really fast (my work PC is decent but not great - 3.4GHz HT P4, 256MB DDR2). The other thing I like is that the pseudo-disk is 7.5G in size which is certainly sufficient to install and run the things I want. The only thing that is slow is booting, but then it was always going to be. Tabbing between windows and linux is a dream!I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Friedrich for giving me the post of moderator!Happy installationsJoe
