(k)Ubuntu wont recognize my ipod nano, and wont even create a /dev/ entry

What's wrong here? I had recently purchased a 2 GB ipod nano and it works with a windoze machine. It also is recognised when i loaded knoppix to test. But ubuntu wont even recognize it. I cant even see a /dev/ entry. But when I plug in my usb flash drive, it works. Just the ipod cant be seen. When i do lsusb, I get this:==============================================================Bus 009 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 008 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 007 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 006 Device 003: ID 05ac:120a Apple Computer, Inc.Bus 006 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0c16:0001 Gyration, Inc.Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000===========================================================The only problem is, I can't mount the ipod because it;s not in /dev/.
