Login Screen Problem

Well I am having problem I installed UBUNTU 5.10 Breezy over my laptop and at login screen either i login or not after just few seconds i think around 20 seconds screen went blank and another blue screen appears which shows that INSTALLIN PACKAgES while configuration and installation of packages is readily done...this screen went directly to 5% and then 100% in few seconds and after that again login screen appears and then same process keeps repeating. Can anyone here please help me in this matter? I'll really be thankful
