Wireless connection

Hi, I am brand new to Ubuntu and Linux in general, so please bear with me :D

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 onto an SD card, and I am having trouble getting my wireless card to work. I am using a Broadcom BCM4318 card, and I tried using NDISWrapper to install the Windows driver, but when I click on the network manager drop-down menu, the "wireless connections" option is greyed out. Can someone please help me?
