Hello i am extremely new to all of this greatness.
I have been using Ubuntu for over a year and (believe it or not) have no idea how to use it. The entire time i have had it I have been dealing with no videos, no sound, no instant messenger services... basically anything you name, i can't do. :'(
I was given a computer for free by a guy and he had Linux installed on it....I was kinda glad because I had heard many good things about Ubuntu but have become incredibly frustrated with not being able to do ANYthing.
I need to know how to :install (or check to see if it is already installed) the newest version of Firefox
and how to installed Flash 10
I need STEP BY STEP instructions, because as I already said, I am a computer illiterate.
Hopefully someone will take pity on me and show me to the light...?

To install use the Package Manager. Synaptic. It will automagically download and install applications.
To get Flash you just need to install the package: ubuntu-restricted-extras
Connect to the internet, open a Terminal and input the command: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
install drivers from Debian protal
You can go to http://appnr.com/category/codec and simply download them all. Restart the browser and you should be able to watch anything.
