I don't know if it's as easy as I found out several weeks after going to a dual boot system .. (Ubuntu and XP).
If you open up the "Places" app on your top bar you should find a reference to your PC machine name (in my case it's HP_Pavillion) click on that and you'll be asked to enter your Ubuntu password then Bingo your C drive will be mounted and you can copy from one drive to another. To dismount the drive just click on the HP_Pavillion icon again and it disappears. Hope this helps.
