wireless network problem

running command line lsusb
my usb device recognised as marvel semiconductor (dynamode dongle)
but not seen in wireles connections
used windows driver via ndiswrapper but after installation my l/top freezes
even after reboot no connection is made and i then remove the window drivers.
(connection with Ethernet cable is not a problem)
have spent hours reading forums and tried following all sorts of recommendations
but must admit, defeat any help would be appreciated
laptop is Samsung running 9.10 ubuntu

after much reading and

after much reading and following lots of advice i have now got wireless recognised can see router but when i try and log into it, password wep/wap personal opens, i follow prompts and enter password (correct one)and after 10 attempts wireless connects and i can access internet. alas next attempt fails miserably i can see available wireless connectors (all password protected) signal strength on mine is good but ubuntu fails to make conne ction keeps asking for password, any suggestions welcome
