canon scanner toolbox

new sony 64bit laptop with windows 7- eventually could install canon mf3220 printer drivers and get printer to work.but cannot get the scanner to work... downloaded the drivers and installed.
however when I want to scan, the message reads: A supported scanner is not installed. pleas install a supported scanner and then restart toolbox.
Please help
