ubuntu 9.10 wont boot after I choose my language

i am trying to boot ubuntu 9.10 from a CD. i boot from the CD drive and it brings me to the screen where i choose my language. I am then brought to a screen that gives me a list like "try ubuntu without making any changes to your computer" + "install ubuntu" + "scan disc for errors" blah blah blah. i choose "try ubuntu without making any changes to your computer" to make sure its running smooth. after that it takes me to a blank screen. i waited 15 mins till i heard a tropical sound and then waited 10 more mins and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

im on a:
- hp Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
- Intel Core2 duo 2.2 GHz
- 4 GB RAM

Please specify closer your

Please specify closer your version of Ubuntu. Current version if 9.10 and I believe there was no version 1.0. I recommend to download ISO image of the 9.10 Karmic Koala (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download), burn it to CD in almost any popular burning software, and try once more. It always worked for me, at least. If you would have the same problem again, try to boot another PC from the same CD, just to make sure the CD is ok.

Sorry for the confusion

Sorry for the confusion. It's the 9.10 version. i just tried to boot it on my hp desktop to no prevail. im running windows 7 64 bit and the ubuntu is 32 bit..could that be an issue?

I don't see the problem being with the CD just because i have downloaded and burned 3 times just to make sure and i was using the recommended InfraRecorder along with default windows burner.

Try another source

There me be something wrong with the file itself. Try downloading it from another source and try again. It happens sometimes.

well ill tell everyone now

well ill tell everyone now don't use softpedia.com because it had a trojan on it...

won't boot after chosing language

Hi there

I was having the same problem the other day when I installed my Ubuntu 9.10. I pressed f4 and tried things in that menu and it seemed to work. Not sure what I did though as I am new to Ubuntu.

Hope you have it sorted and that this helps if you do not

Cheers
