command line to desktop

i am using a VPS. I have only access to command line. can i use desktop? if yes, then which command i have to use.
explain it step by step, as I am new in using ubuntu. ubuntu virsion is 10.10

Well, how do you have an access to the server. SSH? If YES, U can. And the settings depend on using client platform. (Windows, Linux, Unix etc)
