toshiba portege m100 stopped upgrading from ubuntu 12. to 13.

I have a toshiba portege m100 that I couldn't locate a recovery disk for, so I installed the ubuntu 12.3, and it was working fine. Then, I got a message to upgrade to the 13.04 version, and as it was going thru the process, it stopped and I got a message that it couldn't continue the upgrade. Now, when I log into the the OS, my computer will not boot up to let me go online. What should I do, to reinstall the old 12.3 version? When I tried to reinstall the OS with the disk, it doesn't recognize the disk in the drive. Please help me...thnx much.

Upgrading Gateway 9300 processor

My Gateway 9300 is not my main laptop, but it is like new and I still use it for fun. It has an 800 mhz processor with 512mb ram, and runs fast, except not fast enough for adobe flash player to work. My other laptop, IBM T60 with dual core processor, 1.66 ghz, is extremely fast, running 10.04 just fine, thank you(hate unity.) Anybody know a processor upgrade for my 9300?

Agedu – A Unix utility for tracking down wasted disk space

agedu scans a directory tree and produces reports about how much disk space is used in each directory and subdirectory, and also how that usage of disk space corresponds to files with last-access times a long time ago.
In other words, agedu is a tool you might use to help you free up disk space. It lets you see which directories are taking up the most space, as du does; but unlike du, it also distinguishes between large collections of data which are still in use and ones which have not been accessed in months or years – for instance, large archives downloaded, unpacked, used once, and never cleaned up. Where du helps you find what's using your disk space, agedu helps you find what's wasting your disk space.

task-spooler – Personal job scheduler

task spooler is a Unix batch system where the tasks spooled run one after the other. The amount of jobs to run at once can be set at any time. Each user in each system has his own job queue. The tasks are run in the correct context (that of enqueue) from any shell/process, and its output/results can be easily watched. It is very useful when you know that your commands depend on a lot of RAM, a lot of disk use, give a lot of output, or for whatever reason it's better not to run them all at the same time, while you want to keep your resources busy for maximum benfit. Its interface allows using it easily in scripts.

Ubuntu feels like it is falling apart!

Since the introduction of Unity I've had nothing but trouble. Unity is awful but replacing it with Gnome is not easy or a sure bet; apport keeps crashing but only occasionally causes a lockup; GRUB is a mess; Samba doesn't work most of the time. What the heck is going on?

I've been using Ubuntu since ~ V.4.x and have always loved it, but now it doesn't seem to want to live up to its own high standards. Something is very wrong and I'd appreciate it if someone would explain what is going on.

I'm using 12.04 on this laptop but Gnome is a mess. I've switched to LinuxMint for my new desktop because Ubuntu is too unstable. How a derivative distro can be more stable than its parent is a mystery to me, but it is. Of course Mint isn't very good with wireless so I can't switch my laptop.

OK. Enough ranting. Just please tell me what is going on?
