WPA/WPA2 disconnecting from specific connection

Hello. I'm currently having ubuntu 10.10, which works fine, except that on one specific connection at my school, it's disconnecting all the time. About 5-6 times each hour. It depends on how long it takes for it to reconnect, from 3 seconds to 2 minutes. I also have a connection at home, which works without problems. I've had a talk with the network administrator, but he doesn't have a solution, although he tried to figure it out. Some of my classmates are currently using fedora, and that's no problems at all. So it's only ubuntu, and only on this connection. The connection is called eduroam, which is a connection used at several university's around Norway.

I'm currently using:
- WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
- PEAP
- CA certificate GTE_CyberTrust_Global_Root
- Inner auth: MSCHAPv2

To be honest I don't have high expectations, but I figure I'd give it a shot :) Tips and tricks is highly appreciated!

i am using a VPS. I have only access to command line. can i use desktop? if yes, then which command i have to use.

To convert web-pages into PDF file in ubuntu 10.10 is very easy way.
just press Ctrl and P and you will see a new box called Print.
In that you will see Print to file in printer section.
Now just press Print to file now you can see Name box and Output Formate
first you have select (.) PDF and and now you move to Name place and give and name to that file Exp:- xxx.pdf and now go to save in folder: place just press it to change to save on desktop. And press Print box.
After pressing print box it will convert the information in PDF formate
In the second way you have to go file --> print --> it will open print box as mention in above you have to convert the information into PDF format
In the third way you have to go file --> print preview --> it will open a new box called Ubuntu homepage| Ubuntu – Mozilla Fire fox in that you just press Print box and it will open print box and do same as mention in first part it will convert web page into PDF format.

Ubuntu 10.04 mouse pointer frozen

Simply put;
Mouse pointer is frozen in Ubuntu 10.04 installation.
Kant use it at anytime!
May have happened after update failure to complete due to lockup/restart when both keyboard and mouse had stopped responding. Only mouse not working on 10.04 install now.
Also happened on a 10.10 Ubuntu install also same/similar circumstances about the same time.

I'm trying to install Kubuntu 10.10 32bit on an old machine that was previously running Windows XP: 1Mbyte RAM, 80GByte Harddrive. I can't remember what processer / motherboard it has. Graphics card, network card integrated onto the motherboard. No network connected.

Installation seems to progress normally, the disk is ejected and the machine reboots. The Kubuntu 10.10 screen appears. Next a get a screen with a window which shows a picture of a harddrive. A short time later a crossed spanner and screw driver appear next to the harddrive. Then two more pictures want to appear next to the spanner / screwdriver, but before they can come into focus the screen goes blank and I'm back at the screen with the windows and the picture of harddrive this cycle repeats indefinitely.

I looked at your forums and found one that suggested that the harddrive was full and therefore the /tmp directory could not be mounted, but Kubuntu needs only 6Gb and I have a 80Gb drive it can't be full.

I've been using Ubuntu desktop for a while and now want to explore the server side to set up a home network. I have downloaded Maverick. I would like to install LAMP and Tomcat on the same box. The box will be configured for RAID 5. Can I install both Apache and Tomcat on the same box but in their own partitions? Or should I set up virtualization for Maverick as host and install Tomcat as a guest OS? This is new territory for me but I have done a lot of reading about it. The end result is that I want to expand my development skills into web development using PHP and Java so I want a server box I can use as a test platform. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.

When I click on web links in emails (Evolution) they always want to open in Chrome instead of Firefox. Don't know why. How can I change this? From inside Evolution(?)

About Cairo Dock
It uses Cairo / OpenGL to render graphics (many in correlation with Compiz) with full hardware acceleration. It's fully configurable and fully customisable and can be used as a taskbar too. You can easily add applets in the dock or as a desklet. It is recommended to install the PLUG-INS package (cairo-dock-plug-ins) to have access to more views, dialogs and many plug-ins and applets. Some screen shots are available : http://pics.glx-dock.org This package is the core of Cairo-Dock project.

Open a terminal window and add the following line and copy paste the following line.
sudo apt-get install udo

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cairo-dock-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cairo-dock
That’s it Cairo dock is installed. You can start it by going to Applications > Accessories > GLX-Dock (Cairo-Dock withOpenGPL).

Dosemu to cups-pdf printer peient problem

I have try to print pdfprinter from foxpro 2.6a use of dosemu in ubuntu 10.04. but every time give massage at printer state "Idle - /user lib cups/backend/cups-pdf failed"
how to i solve it.
any idea to save print job from dosemu or foxpro to a text file.

Alright,here's the deal. I'm new to Ubuntu, and furthermore, I'm 15. I've been working with computers (Windows, mostly) nearly all my life. But this damned Ubuntu just won't cut me any slack!

I installed it with Wubi. Worked great. Updated 2 drivers (My Broadcom Wireless and the driver for my ATI Mobility Radeon Card). I did the system update thing which took all night to download (Around 270 files) and when I tried to log in this morning, Oh look, I go right to a black Dos-like command screen, asking me to log in.
(Ie.
Welcome to Ubuntu! etc,
Username:
Then,
password:(if I entered a username)
)
If I didn't type anything, the corrupt low memory line shows up. Then it asks me to log in.
I log in, and I come to a command prompt.
$eric or something like that.
I try "reboot", doesn't recognize the command. So I hard-boot the thing.
I come to the GRUB loader, and try the Recovery mode.
Used fix package, and It told me that it downloaded 0 files and fixed 0 packages.

Docky will be added under Accessories in the Applications menu.

When you first launch Docky you will get a pretty simple dock on the bottom of your screen. You can drag and drop your application icons to rearrange them, and drag applications from the applications menu to Docky to add them. Pull an icon from Docky out and it will disappear in a puff of smoke.

Webcam

I have installed WB-1400T (Trust Web Cam). When I open it through the cheese fotwere it works fine. But when I call in the skype it dose not work. I can see the person in the other end. But they can not see me. I am very new to Ubuntu. I would be greatfull if you Could help me.

Need help to find programmes that have no dependancies, they appear to need files added to them so that the upgrade can be completed.

hi there i tried to install linux on my windows xp ,it installed but with problems it will not work and i cannot reinstall as for some reason it says that i have to remove the old version but i cannot uninstall it and as i have windows xp pro also on it i cannot do it ,i have reinstalled windows in the hope that it would delete ubuntu but it did not work. can anyone help i think it was ubuntu 10.4 and the disc cannot be faulty as someone installed it fine on their computer
but it would not work with mine, it is an ibm laptop which was my daughters but i have it now as a spare laptop.
