Partitioning HD

How long does it take for Ubuntu's default partitioning to complete?  I've had the computer on overnight thinking it may take awhile, but I don't think this is right.  Why is partitioning not complete?  I've had a blue screen for hours!! Any help?brandon

I know in my short history of installing Ubuntu, the installation took no longer than 10-20 minutes, tops. You possibly did not set up your partition right.
