Ubntu installation problem

Hai,I have installed ubntu on my system.I am using a P4 intel processor and 40 Gb HD,Mercury motherboard.When i have installed ubntu on my system it is directly going to the command mode.But i want to set GUI mode as my default mode.I have seached for commands like "startx" in ubuntu but i couldnt find out.Any body know how to solve this problem.Please help me:RegardsVijesh

Perhaps you installed the server version with no desktop?

From the command line

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

sudo reboot now

If that doesn't work, try

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
