Ubuntu 7.10 (both methods...VGA/Text) Fail partition

It fails partitioning at 33%...oddly enough it automatically starts at 33% as well. I had to fix the MBR...it must have been successful...prior to now the 160gb drive was being read as 1803.8 TB....now it is read at the correct specs.The attempt to mount a filesystem with type ext3 in scsi2 (0,0,0) partition #1 (sda) at / failedHow can i get this up and running...I am out of ideas. I havn't ran into this issue before. New Linux user. Tried 5.01, tried 7.1Amd athalon, Averatec c3500 completely empty drive...no OS.I don't know what the other installation methods are wich is why I haven't tried them.
