writing to windows drives (FAT32)

I am new to ubuntu and for scholastic reasons have to keep windows XP as an OS. I have created a drive partition that mounts fine in ubuntu, yet I can find no way of changing the permissions so that I can write to it. I have tried running as root and using chmod but the change did not actually get made. If anybody has advice it would be greatly appreciated. thanks ~Arik

If you are wanting

If you are wanting Read/Write access to windows drives ( ntfs ) the driver included with linux doesn't support write access, so this might be causing you some grief. You might want to check out http://www.jankratochvil.net/project/captive/ The captive driver for RW access on NTFS drives. The only glitch I have found so far is that the drives seem to have trouble automounting on boot, which is a little annoying, but it just might be a lack of research on my part. Have a good one, Matt
